I’m a Sunday Funday girly for sure.
There’s just something about spending the day somewhere sunny sans your to-do list while forgetting about the Sunday Scaries. Most recently, I was invited out to spend a Sunday at Epicurean Hotel’s Splash Sunday poolside event in Tampa.

The Epicurean Hotel is located at 1207 South Howard Avenue, Tampa. Their onsite restaurant, Élevage serves up an INCREDIBLE brunch (don’t worry, another post to come on that). Prior to my invite out, I didn’t even realize that the Epicurean offered its own version of Sunday Funday. Now that I mention it, they actually offer a variety of events to check out. I’ve even attended their Bend, Bubbles and Brunch events in the past.

This year the splash Sunday lineup occurred one Sunday per month at the Epicurean (with the next one happening 9/18).
Foodie floats line the pool and a DJ pumps out beats that mix today’s hits with ones you love from the past. Tickets for Splash Sunday sit pretty at $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, it’s up to you on how you want to spend the. day. You can take the time to lounge out or hit the pool and snap shots on the fun floats.
I spent majority of the time lounging, paired with quick dips in the pool to cool off. It’s rare that I even take the time to lay out and do nothing at my own pool, but this event was the perfect excuse to do so.
This gal loves a good modern day throw back music blend, so I was in my happy place with the poolside music while I lounged around.

Ben and I had the perfect setup because the lounge chairs we chose had some umbrella shading. The heat to shade ratio was pretty spot on – even for a Florida summer day it was bearable. Directly behind us were the cabanas. They’re available for booking at $250 inclusive of dedicated bottle service.
I could totally see the benefit of booking a larger cabana, especially with a group of friends in tow. For just Ben and I though, the shaded lounge chairs were perfect.

What I noticed about Splash Sunday is that the vibe is a little more elevated than other Sunday Funday events I’ve been to.
This is of course my opinion, but it’s a difference that I find worth noting. I think this event is perfect for anyone looking to spend a Sunday with friends, poolside minus a rowdy scene. While I love downing tequila with the best of them, I think there’s definitely something to be said for a chill Sunday Funday that doesn’t leave you grossly hungover at work on Monday. 😉
Obviously it’s still up to the individual on just how much of a “splash” they want to make (shots, anyone?), but I’d say the Epicurean does a great job of giving the Splash Sunday atmosphere a laid back, yet boosted feel.
