Say Hello Ho Ho to Santa’s Social Club

To know me is to know I love Downtown Dunedin. As if I couldn’t love it any more, the city has turned the dial up on its charm-o-meter. It’s gone from everyday cute little town to a holiday season scene. There are decorations on Main Street, lights to enjoy, and the best part: the return of my favorite Christmas pop-up bar: Santa’s Social Club.

Does the name sound familiar? It’s a merry play on the beloved Sonder Social Club, Dunedin’s first craft cocktail bar. This magical transformation is one of my favorites to see in Downtown Dunedin. When you walk in, you’re immediately met with an entire ceiling of bright Christmas lights. It’s so immersive that you half expect Santa himself to be bartending. I also love how detail-oriented the shelves are for the season. Next time you’re in Santa’s Social Club, take a peek and see how many Christmas treasures you can find on the shelves.

With such a fabulously festive lineup of holiday cocktails, it’s hard to choose which one to kick off with. In my opinion, Sonder’s cocktails are literal works of liquid art – inside and outside of Santa season. The Social Club’s offerings range from merry martinis, Santa spritzes, all the way to coquitos (both toasted and non toasted). My favorite way to order at Santa’s is bar-side. It’s so engaging to watch my drink choice come to life. I’m telling you, liquid works of art.

holly jolly gingerbread tini 🍸 – skyy vodka, gingerbread syrup, grind coffee liqueur, amarula, frangelico, espresso
an old fashioned christmas 🥃 – angel’s envy bourbon, gingerbread syrup, buck spice ginger bitters
mele kaliki matcha 🍵 – skyy vodka, midori, green chartreuse, pine needle matcha tea lemon, honey
rudolph’s red nose tini 🦌 – sipsmith gin, grand marnier, lemon, roasted pineapple pink peppercorn honey
santa’s choice coquitos (toasted!) 🥥 – evaporated milk, condensed milk, spice tea, toasted coconut cream, coconut milk, coconut cartel

While I love the Tampa and St Pete scenes, I’m so happy to have this holiday gem not far from me in Dunedin. Santa’s Social Club’s cocktails and atmosphere prove to be worthy of a drop in even during the most chaotic time of the year.
