To put it bluntly I’m the furthest thing from a homebody. On any given Friday night I’d rather be out and about than cozied up on the couch with a movie. This is exactly why social-distancing and self-quarantining is SUCH a challenge for me. I get all kinds of antsy being cooped up. My husband on the other hand is loving all of the extra Netflix and chill time.
The Coronavirus has *very* rudely disrupted all of our routines and needs to shimmy its way outta here ASAP. Enough is enough, ya know? Considering we’re all in this together, I thought I’d share some ways to stay sane at home until COVID-19 is COVID-no more.
+ Organize your garage (or any of the storage spaces in your home really). We both know those spaces could use the TLC and it’s not like you have anything else to do.
+ Indulge in a date night at home with your S’O. Who says you can’t bring date night in? Cook up your favorite meal, watch a rom-com, and enjoy some quality time with your better half.
+ Find a creative outlet to explore and pass the time. For me, this is working to create content for my blog and social media channels. For you, it could be something totally different. Try your hand at painting, graphic design, photography, etc. Start a blog if you want to (I have some tips here).
+ Download TikTok and learn some of the dances. Y’all, even if you don’t upload your videos for the masses, learning TT dance choreo is a fun way to sneak in some cardio. Boogie down and close those rings!
+ Spend time with your pup. Self explanatory. Give that puppo some lovin, take him for a walk, or have extra playtime outside. Trust me when I say that your pet is beyond happy to have you home with them.
+ Purge baby, purge. I’m talking your closet, your makeup drawer, your email inbox, etc. Purge away and get rid of the old. Isn’t it time to spring clean anyway?
+ Start a new binge-worthy series on Netflix. Ben and I just finished Love is Blind and let me tell you: never have I EVER cringed so much at a show that I couldn’t pull myself away from watching.
+ Find an at-home workout routine because your gym is likely closed. I’ve never been more thankful to have an elliptical machine and some free weights at home to use. If you don’t have those options, you can always look up workouts on Pinterest. Rumor has it that popular fitness companies (like Orangetheory) are also streaming live workouts. Check ’em out and sweat it out.
+ Switch up your scenery. Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to stay inside. You can have your morning coffee on the patio, take your laptop and work in the backyard, or just go sit on your front lawn and watch the world go by. Fresh air helps and will boost your mood.
+ Host a virtual happy hour (or game night) with friends or family. It’s the next best thing to being in person with your favorite people. There are so many video chat services that exist and they’re easy to use. You could try FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, or web services like Zoom.
+ Rest, stretch, and breathe. It’s ok to not be productive all the time (something I’m still learning myself). Take solace in the fact that you don’t have to be anywhere or do anything, and at the same time you’re saving lives.
What are some ways that you’re keeping your sanity during these crazy times? Are you loving the fact that you have to stay home or are you itching to get your Friday nights back like I am? Comment below and let a gal know.
Love a good virtual happy hour!
I was skeptical at first, but it was actually pretty cool! Excited for the next one. 🙌🏼
