The Clear Sky Family
Clear Sky has various locations around Tampa Bay. Their beachside cafe can be found near Clearwater Beach, Clear Sky on Cleveland has its roots planted in downtown Clearwater, and their Draught Haus location can be found in Dunedin. Their menu is wide range with no shortage of creative variety. I’m most familiar with Clear Sky’s Beachside Cafe near Clearwater Beach. They have an INCREDIBLE Cinnamon Bun French Toast that you MUST try the next time you go for brunch.
It wasn’t until recently that I found myself seated at one of Clear Sky’s other locations for the first time. My family was looking for a safe place to dine out beyond their dining room table which led us to getting together at Clear Sky on Cleveland. I was excited to try out another member of the Clear Sky restaurant group.
Dining Out in Downtown Clearwater
The ambience of the evening was secured with our family all sitting down at a table together for the first time since the pandemic began. We sipped cocktails, laughed loudly, caught up on the latest life news amongst each other, and sang along with the one man band that was playing well-known covers. Let me tell you – it sure beat a group FaceTime call.
What We Ordered
Ben kicked off our meal with some Chargrilled Oysters and I always chuckle when he orders them. He constantly makes fun of me for the ~weird~ foods I like. Oysters are not something I usually enjoy (mostly a texture thing), but somehow these mollusks have made their way to the favorable side of Ben’s palette.
Clear Sky’s oysters come topped with cajun garlic butter and parmesan cheese. I eyed them for a while before I hesitantly tried one. While the garlic and parmesan play nicely together, I still can’t get past the texture of oysters to enjoy them enough. They did photograph nicely though.
I indulged in Clear Sky’s Pan Seared Scallops and Pork Belly entree. Pork belly can easily be a hit or miss item for me (again, a texture thing). I can confidently type that Clear Sky’s pork belly is definitely a HIT because of its perfectly crisp outside and melty inside.
Clear Sky’s seared scallops were meaty and beautifully tender. High piled rice and zesty gochujang aioli accompany the proteins perfectly and the fresh kimchi gives the dish a vibrant element. These additions balance everything out allowing the entree not to feel so ~meat heavy~.
Ben ordered the Fort Harrison Steak Sandwich for dinner – definitely more of a “Ben dish” than the oysters. I forgot to snap a photo of it, but Ben simply claimed it was “delicious.” Additionally, he added it was “good, great, grand, wonderful.” Who knows this reference? Now I wish I snagged a bite of his sandwich to beef up this paragraph.
Clear Sky on Cleveland is the second location of the Clear Sky family locations that I’ve tried. I love it for its spacious outdoor patio, live music, varietal menu, and large portions. Clear Sky on Cleveland aims to please in the midst of downtown Clearwater. The best part is that it’s smack dab in my. hometown. Give this Clear Sky location a try the next time you’re in Clearwater – you won’t be disappointed.
