Howl-O-Scream is back at Busch Gardens Tampa this year.
It’ll be terror town over there from now through November 2nd. Side note though, can you believe we’re already entering spooky season? 2024 is flying by faster than a witch on a broomstick. I look to Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream as my cue that fall is upon us in Tampa Bay, even if the Florida temps insist otherwise.

It’s a special year for Howl-O-Scream as they celebrate their 25th anniversay of the event. When you go, you may see some of your favorite Howl-O-Scream icons roaming the park. Who, you ask? Trust me when I say, I’m too busy running and screaming from them to learn their names. Let’s just hope they can’t keep up with Kahla.
Busch Gardens invited me out recently to their media preview night (I know, I couldn’t believe it either – these opportunities are seriously so cool). At the event we were able to experience this year’s food lineup and preview Howl-O-Scream’s newest house: Shadows of Wonderland. Not only that, but they gave me the opportunity to capture my walkthrough experience of the new house on a scream cam. That’s right, every shriek, scream, OMG, and expression was captured on their high quality camera. I’d call this quite an upgrade from the videos I caught on my phone’s front camera last year.
Ben and I had a great time at the event. We tried some of this year’s food (the less scary options) and met some true…erhhm, characters haha). Truth be told attending anything horror related is pure torture for me, but I couldn’t resist this opportunity. Why do I do this to myself?

The Shadows of Wonderland house is Based on Alice in Wonderland themes.
Think tea party gone wrong with rabid bunnies that want to hip, hop, and horrify you. As someone who has never seen Alice in Wonderland, I was going flying blind and on edge already. The opportunity to suit up with the scream cam added to the fright in a meaningful way.
When it was time for my house walkthrough, I could feel my heart pounding through my chest. Every corner of the house was lurking with jumpy, bone-chilling horror and I was so NOT ready. Again, someone please remind me why I do this to myself? It must be for the content.

I won’t spoil too much, but the Shadows of Wonderland house got me ghoulishly good. Among the frightening thrills, there’s also a sense of whimsy to it. The house is so immersive, and maybe one of the most detailed Howl-O-Scream houses I’ve walked through. When you visit, just wait until you see the mirror room. It’s truly somethin’ else. For now, you can watch my scream cam footage here (so sorry in advance to your ears).
So, what do you say? Is somebody gonna match my shriek and check out Busch Garden Howl-O-Scream this year? If the answer is HOWL YEAH – you can find more event information and purchase tickets here.
