Honestly guys, Hurricane Irma has me a little (ok, a lottle) shook. Ben and I are leaving tonight to fly up to Chicago. We’ve been planning this trip for months and apparently we couldn’t have picked a better time to escape the Sunshine State. It’s our annual weekend trip to spend time in Ben’s college town with friends! We skipped last year because we were busy getting married or something. Needless to say, we have a lot to make up for this weekend.
While I’m excited for the weekend away, my nerves are still getting the best of me because of this hurricane. I’m worried about our friends and family staying in Florida. I’m worried about what we’ll be coming back to. I’m worried that I won’t be able to get in contact with anyone during the storm and the days following with electricity likely being out. Our only travel trouble at this point will be coming home. We’re scheduled to head back to Tampa on Sunday, but there’s a 99.9% chance that’ll get changed to a Monday departure. In an effort to be proactive and beat United to the punch, we’ll likely switch our flights on our own instead of getting the cancellation notice first. In an effort to be SUPER proactive, Ben and I switched our Sunday return flights with ones that come home on Tuesday. Airlines are cancelling Saturday – Monday flights left and right in/out of Tampa. United hadn’t announced that yet, but we did not want to take that chance and risk having to scramble to find flights home.
Much like a two year old throwing a terrible tantrum, Hurricane Irma literally has no mercy. The maps show that it’s as large as the state of Florida, which is honestly terrifying. My thoughts are with everyone that have already been in Hurricane Irma’s path, as well as those still bracing to experience it. Those in Irma’s way: do your best to stay safe, and just be prepared. It’s not only the day of the hurricane striking that matters, it’s those days that follow after it too.
Enough Hurricane talk though. The uncertainties are driving my brain crazy. Instead let’s chat about something I am certain about: this top from Tobi.
Bell sleeves? Check. Taupe color? Check. Tie front? Checkity check. As you can see, every part of this Paradise Bell Sleeve Blouse is right up my alley! I loved pairing it with my white shorts and grey booties for a fall-esque look. The kicker is that this top (even though it’s long sleeve!) is still light enough to wear in Florida’s “fall” temps. We all know it’s basically summer year round here. You better believe I take what I can get when it comes to pieces that can help me fake some fall outfits until it actually cools down around here.
This top is on sale now for $28 with code LV50. Get it now by clicking here.
What are your weekend plans? Florida friends: did you evacuate for Hurricane Irma or are you sticking it out in our home state?
