Up until about a year or so ago, skincare wasn’t high on my priority list. The closest thing to a “routine” that I had was wiping my face of makeup off with wipes and following that with a face wash. That was only at night or the next morning if I hadn’t gotten my makeup off the night before. I knew nothing about moisturizers, toners, eye creams – none of it.
I don’t consider myself a skincare guru by any means, but lately I’ve found products that I’ve enjoyed using. I’ve taken the time to form morning and nighttime skincare routines that are quick and easy (just how I like it). It’s something I surprisingly look forward to when waking up and just before going to bed.
Who literally am I?
When you think about it, your skin is like your smile – something that faces outward to the world always. Given that fact, don’t you want to keep up with it? Once upon a time makeup removing wipes and face wash seemed like enough, but at the ripe age of 27 I’ve found that I enjoy trying out and incorporating different moisturizers, toners, and even….*drum roll* EYE CREAM into my skincare routines.
Today on Keeping Up with Kahla, I’m sharing my favorite current skincare products, the order I use them in, and the times I use them at.
Morning Routine:
Step 1: Water
In the morning I start with a splash of water on my face (in lieu of face wash) before going through the rest of my morning skincare routine. I read somewhere on Google that you shouldn’t use face wash in the morning because your skin produces natural oils to help deflect impurities throughout the day. So, a splash of water kicks it all off for me in the morning.
Step 2: Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist
A few spritzes of this goodness wakes me up. It refreshes and tones. I always feel so refreshed after using this facial mist so it’s perfect in the mornings.
Step 3: VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream
This is the newest member to my skincare products family! Before VIIcode, I had never used an eye cream before. The magic in this little blue jar works to rejuvenate damaged skin cells near your eyes. I love that after applying it absorbs super quickly and doesn’t leave any weird residue. It’s like a little refresh for my eyes. Trust me when I say they can use it. There are nights where I’ll wake up every hour almost on the hour leaving me exhausted in the morning. Unfortunately it’s not just an internal feeling – it’s totally visible too. This VIIcode T2 Oxygen eye cream has been helping me look a little more “awake” in the mornings, especially on the mornings where I truly need it. I use this product as part of my daytime and nighttime routine to keep my under eye puffiness and dark circles in check. It’s definitely been a welcomed part to both of my skincare routines.
Step 4: Soap & Glory Speed Plump All-Day Super Moisture
This AM moisturizer literally smells like CANDY. I love that it doesn’t have a heavy feel to it. It locks in the rest of my products perfectly and leaves my skin feeling soft all day long.
Nighttime Routine:
Step 1: Yes To Soothing Cucumber Makeup Removing Wipes (if I have makeup on, if not I skip to Step 2).
As my Instagram fam knows, I’m a huge fan of Yes To. These makeup wipes are so fresh and soothing. They take my makeup off and leave my skin feeling freshened up by the cucumber and green tea extracts. These makeup removing wipes don’t leave residue and don’t leave your skin feeling oily at all.
Step 2: Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk:
I wash the day away with this face wash. Even the name alone makes it feel luxe, but spoiler alert friends – this huge bottle of face wash is under $12.
Step 3: Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner
Whatever my face wash misses, this miracle in a bottle catches. I normally put some of this toner on a cotton ball and swab away all over my face. It’s a real triple threat since it cleanses, tones, and moisturizes. Though this toner comes in an unscented version, the rose petal one is my favorite. No matter how clean my skin feels after step 2, I never EVER skip this step.
Step 4: Mario Badescu Facial Spray
I love incorporating this facial spray into my nighttime routine. The rose scent is actually relaxing for me. A few spritzes of this and I’m a happy gal. It’s such a nice, light refresher for my skin.
Step 5: VIIcode T2 Oxygen Eye Cream
I told you all about this amazing eye cream in my morning skincare routine above. I use it at night as well.
Step 6: Soap & Glory Speed Plump Overnight Moisture Mousse
All of the Soap and Glory products I’ve tried smell so yummy and this one is no exception. I use this moisturizer as the last step to my nighttime routine. The consistency reminds me of Yoplait Whips – which I kind of really love. It goes on surprisingly light and absorbs quickly to lock in the rest of my products until the morning.
