It’s finally that time of year. There’s a slight chill in the air, the leaves are changing colors, and sweater weather is upon us. Well, I guess it’s that time of year everywhere except for Florida. The humidity is still very much present here, the palm trees are still green, and temps outside are still in the 80s so there’s no way I’m leaving my house in a sweater. We do the fall season a little differently here in the Sunshine State. Since there won’t be a slight chill in the air until late November (if we’re lucky), I’ll be getting into the seasonal spirit in other ways. This is the Floridian’s fall bucket list.

- Wear layers, since we all know it’s still way too hot for full on chunky knit sweaters.
- Order a hot pumpkin chai tea. Enjoy it in your car with the AC blowing.
- Rock your favorite beanie for like, an hour. Maybe long enough to snap a cute ~fAlliSH~ pic. Any longer than that and you may risk sweat matted hair. Gross.
- Visit a pumpkin patch that isn’t located outside of Whole Foods or Home Depot. Cute ones exist in Florida, I promise.
- Even though it’s still warm here, the weather is still better than it is in August. Roll the windows down in your car during your morning commute, or during an evening joy ride. The midday timeframe is still questionable at this point, so probably keep your windows up then.
- Ask Florida repeatedly why it never fully participates in seasons.
- Turn down the AC at home, light the fire place, burn a fall scented candle, and pretend it’s below 60 degrees outside.
- The Sunshine State will eventually tease some chillier temps. Watch the weather predictions so you’re prepared for the one day a year that you can finally wear your over the knee boots and favorite coat. You only get one true shot at this.
- Patio season is still in full effect here. Enjoy your outside patio at home, lay out and catch a tan, grab drinks at a rooftop bar one night, or sit outside while eating at your favorite brunch restaurant.
- Do more outdoor activities. What’s going to stop you? Snow? LOL. Take a bike ride. Rollerblade along the sidewalks in your neighborhood. Tailgate outside at a football game (obviously leave the hand warmers behind).
- Post beach day pics and remind everyone that even though Florida doesn’t quite understand what seasons are – it’s still pretty stellar to be able to hit the beach in the October.
