[Pc: @ohhappydani] I’m still struggling to find the right words to say here - but I know it’s better to say something than to say nothing at all. I took to stories over the weekend to share some of my thoughts and a few of you (very lovingly 😉) reminded me that I still had some work to do there. I appreciated it because I’ll admit there is a LOT to learn in this area for me. And that is what we should be doing - educating those that might need it. ⠀

My heart is still heavy, just as I know many of yours are and it’s hard to know as a white woman where you can even begin to help the black community. Nothing changes if nothing changes though so we have to start somewhere. ⠀

We have to do BETTER as humans. I know I will never truly understand what it means to be black in today’s world and I won’t pretend to understand. What I do know is that I can be open minded to learning. Be kind. Be passionate. Be heard. Be strong. The future depends on it. ⠀

Here are some ways you and I can do that in our day to day:⠀

> Research, read, listen, and research again. Google the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Search the hashtag on here. The internet is full of resources. Find time to educate yourself.⠀

> Have the uncomfortable conversations. Awkwardness is ok and you might stumble through it. Ben and I have had multiple conversations this weekend about racism. Not normally a topic of discussion in our house, but an important one to have and to continue to have.⠀

> Educate passionately, but respectfully. If something doesn’t feel right or an off comment is made that doesn’t sit right with you - say something. ⠀

This starts at home with your family. This starts with being the one to speak up in your group of friends. This starts from a heart of wanting to see change for the black community and the racism that exists in today’s world. This starts with us.

Top it off with everything but the bagel seasoning, pepper, chili flakes 🌶, feta cheese, and sriracha (sometimes I’ll swap out the sriracha for balsamic glaze if I’m feeling boujee)⠀
