Living in activewear has become a way of life.
Blame it on the fact that I still work from home full time. Assume it’s because I just refuse to spend the day in anything else. I don’t care. Whatever the reason, I’m still reaching for comfortable leggings, workout tops, and cropped sports bras when throwing together my OOTDs. Anyone who watches my Instagram Stories can totally attest to this.
Reaching for the same Nike shorts time and time again gets old. Doubling the wear on a sports bra more than once? Been there done that (if you’re like me you play favorites with your sports bras, but it’s still gross I know). At some point last year enough was enough and I took it upon myself to overhaul my activewear collection.
Over time I’ve accumulated pieces from multiple stores that I absolutely LOVE.
I’m picky when it comes to activewear.
I need it to fit well and look good. If my bod doesn’t look right in something then it’s a hard pass. I’m a red, sweaty mess when I’m done with my workouts. The least my activewear can do is make me look good while I look like a wet tomato. Quality is vital too. I’d rather invest in a pair of leggings that will last me rather than a pair that’s going to wear out quickly.
It’s a BIG bonus for me if the workout pieces can double as a decent outfit for a trip to Target – er, I mean post-workout errands.
Whenever I shop for new activewear, these are the places I hit first:
+ Nordstrom: I’m a big fan of the Zella collection that they carry. I have leggings, bike shorts, and cropped sports bras from the brand that have all proven to be worth the purchase. I also love the variety of athletic shoes at Nordstrom.
+ Lululemon: A long time favorite of mine and for good reason. My Lululemon leggings have lasted for YEARS. One of the best (and easiest) ways to keep them at their peak quality is to air dry them after washing. You won’t find lemons in the dryer at this house – neither fruit nor leggings.
+ Target: We all know Target always comes through and when the category is activewear, the story is the same. I’m obsessed with these cropped sports bras from the JoyLab lineup. They’re incredibly soft and so comfortable. These sports bras are also TikTok dancing approved. Bottom line: Target has a fabulous variety of activewear and it’s all super affordable.
+ TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls: A true trifecta. I’m grouping these three stores together because I always visit them on a whim. I love to peruse the activewear racks in these stores. I never know what I might find, but I have to have the time and patience to rummage. Think Forever21 shopping mentality. A lot of my Adidas and Nike tank tops are from the luck of a random rack find at TJ Maxx, Ross, or Marshalls.
+ Beyond Yoga: This store is a brand new go-to for me. I just started shopping here last year (shocking !!!). So far I’ve purchased two tank tops from Beyond Yoga. Trust me when I say there will be more purchases to come – especially since doing more yoga is a 2021 goal.
What stores do you shop at for activewear? Any of the stores on the list that I mention above?
