Loving: I’m refraining from saying these slides so someone doesn’t reach through their computer screen and slap me saying “WE GET IT KAHLA! YOU LOVE THEM.” Instead, I’ll say these over the knee boots that (let’s be honest) I’ll probably only get to wear one time this year. Ya know, because Florida. But they’re still just gorgeous in person and their my first pair of OTKs so excuse me for being excited.
Feeling: READY FOR VACAY. Ben and I are heading on vacation next week! It’ll be the first one this with just us two, so the quality time will be nice. We’re staycationing at the Opal Sands on Clearwater Beach. I’m really looking forward to the sun, sand, and some much needed down time.
Watching: We just wrapped up Friends From College and loved it. It’s a short series with only eight episodes so far. I feel like I related to each one of the characters at some point – which are all hilarious by the way. After flying through those episodes, Ben and I picked up Ozark on Netflix starring Jason Bateman. We’re three episodes deep and I’m hooked, but I can’t tell if it’s because I love Jason Bateman or if the show is actually that good. Hoping both.
Listening to: Bleachers! Are you a fan? I am so pumped because we bought tickets to see them when they come to St. Pete in September. I’ve never seen them live, but I’ve been a fan of their music for a couple of years now. This is way overdue.
Eating: Ben and I have been trying out Blue Apron for the past two weeks. Our friends Aaron and Jenny gave us a code to get our first week of meals free and it went surprisingly well. While cooking the meals there are a ton of dishes used, and a lot of prep time but the end results for dinner were actually pretty tasty. I accidentally cancelled too late to opt out for Blue Apron to charge us for a second week, so we got looped into another round of meals. I reached out to their customer service about it to explain what happened and they were incredibly helpful. They refunded me my money after I explained the situation, but since our second week of meals had already been shipped out we were still getting them either way. No complaints here. Ben and I were happy to try another few meals from them, especially for free.
Recommending: I’ve had a handful of cool collaborations come through Keeping Up with Kahla recently, and one of them was with the company Yes To. I had the opportunity to try out a few of their products, and I can’t say enough great things about this grapefruit single use mud mask. It helps brighten up your skin while minimizing pores. I’m also a fan of their charcoal mud mask which helps remove impurities from your skin. I can’t wait to try out the rest of what they’ve sent me and tell you guys alllllll about it.
What have you all been up to recently? Let me know in the comments.
Always acknowledge & celebrate your self victories - even small ones 🥳. Last month I set a goal for myself to close all of the rings on my Apple Watch every single day in October. And I DID IT. 💪🏻
I’m pretty obsessive about closing my rings, but completing them every day for a month was something I had never done before 😬. I held myself accountable any way I could. I’d wake up early for workouts to close my Exercise Ring if I knew the day would be busy. If I passed out early on the couch I’d set an alarm for the later hours of the night to make sure I could stand up and close my Stand Ring. I kept my body moving to hit my Move Ring even if it was minutes before bed (in case you’re wondering- doing the electric slide over and over will get you there 🎶). October was the month I was going to close all of the rings and I committed myself to it. No excuses.
Closing all of my rings on 10/31 was equal parts exciting and relieving. I had pushed myself every day for 31 days straight. Looking at my Health App screenshot for October literally gives me all of the FEELS 🥰. I might just make it a goal again for December (right now I’m focusing on closing my rings 5x per week).
What’s something you’ve recently accomplished that you’re proud of? Shout it out and let’s celebrate it. 🎉

My favorite crafting project? COCKTAILS 🤪 #ad SAVE THIS COCKTAIL RECIPE FOR LATER. When I’m the one crafting cocktails in this house I have three rules to follow: 1. It must be easy to make (the less ingredients the better), 2. It absolutely has to be gram worthy (otherwise what’s the point?), 3. It better go down smooth. This @empress1908gin Empress & Elderflower cocktail hits all the marks (+ it was the fan fave to make on stories!!). 🌺
HOW TO MAKE:
Pour 2oz @empress1908gin over ice
Top with 3oz elderflower tonic water
Garnish with a grapefruit slice
That’s it - that’s the drink. Is this easy or what? Equal parts refreshing & floral. Check out that color too 😍. @empress1908gin is distilled with butterfly pea blossoms which turn the cocktail to this hue when reacting with tonic water. Love a sippable science project moment especially when it looks this pretty and tastes this good. 💜 #EmpressGin #EmpressFL #EmpressAtHome...
outfit mirror pic, but what am I actually wearing? that’s a secret I’ll never tell xoxo gossip girl 😏. I’ve immersed myself back into the world of my favorite upper east siders - rewatching #GossipGirl while I workout has been the best way to pass by the cardio minutes 👏🏻. Hold onto your pumpkins folks, it’s going to be a bumpy week 🎃. Election week anxiety is REAL. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.
1. Workout, go for a walk, stretch it out with some yoga, or meditate. Do something for your body. 💪🏻
2. Turn off the tv. Log out of socials if you need to. Nap. Take a bath. Give yourself a mental break. The media can be mentally draining. 😴
3. Create. Find an outlet this week that’ll get you away from the screen and into what you love doing most. Painting, journaling, cooking, something new, ANYTHING. 🍳
4. Breathe. 2020 has been a wild ride. We’re going to get through it. ☁️
