Today marks five months of marriage to my best friend. Although Ben and I celebrate every month of marriage, this one is special because it also lands on our five year date-iversary. Our relationship is five years dating, and five months married old on the 5th. How’s that for a milestone? We’re calling it: our fiverversary.
Five years ago today, good ole Benny asked me to be his girlfriend (for the second time, since I turned him down the first – ha!). We never looked back after that and I could not be happier. We have adventured together, laughed together, cried together, karaoke’d together, and even have our own handshake.
One of the most amazing things about Ben is how incredibly supportive he is. He supports me in everything I do, even if it means taking an impromptu four hour car ride to Miami for Swim Week because I randomly received an invite to the Mia Marcelle 2017 Collection Preview.
To be completely honest, I had no idea what Mia Marcelle was, that Swim Week even existed, what it meant to even take the trip. But hey, what I do know now is that we were in a car the day following the invite and on our way to Miami. Ben drove while I rode passenger, thankful that I had someone so willing to do something so on a whim because a bathing suit company I had never heard of had found me through my blog.
I’ve dated an ego maniac. I’ve dated a guy who only wanted to see me when it was convenient for him. I’ve dated a guy that refused to even “like” a picture on my Facebook feed because he thought I got enough attention from everyone else (also, who even does that?). I never lowered my expectations though. I knew my missing piece existed somewhere out there. And five years ago at the ripe age of 21, when I wasn’t even looking for a relationship, Ben Brubaker happened.
Cheers to five years and five months of experiences that never cease to amaze me. Thank you for being understanding when I wanted to stand for 12 hours straight in one spot so that we could be front row when Eric Church finally took the stage at Tortuga. Thank you for always taking the selfies because my arms aren’t long enough. Thank you for driving six hours north on my birthday that one year so that I could see snow for the first time. Thank you for not breaking up with me on the spot when I accidentally bought wheelchair seats to that one Cardinals game (also, please never let me buy the tickets again). Thank you for always wanting to take trips and go on adventures. Thank you for waiting in the longest line ever for Kip Moore at CMA Fest last year when we didn’t even know if we’d get in to the HGTV Lodge to see him. We did, and I was so thankful. Thank you for always going along with my crazy ideas and supporting me 110%.
Thank you for also agreeing to a 9PM photoshoot with our Mr. and Mrs. mugs while the Cardinals game was on last night. I know that’s actually your version of true love.
Everyone deserves their own Ben, I’m just thankful to have the original.
You guys are so cute. Happy five months!!
Thanks so much sweet girl! xo
