Wildflower Café. The name alone gives this spot an adorable pre-assumed aesthetic. Nestled into the backend of a light blue building in Clearwater, Florida, Wildflower Café is one of my favorite go-tos for brunch. Their menu is seasonal and the food is fresh. The first time I visited here was with my sister. Since then Ben and I have been back to this restaurant multiple times, once even to celebrate the day I got my last name changed. I know what you’re wondering and the answer is yes: I will always use a good brunch to celebrate any major life event.
This little café’s atmosphere is charming and super inviting. You can choose to sit inside or out – which is especially nice in the cooler Florida months.
When you visit this café you HAVE TO (major emphasis there) start with an order of Wildflower’s biscuits and honey butter. Don’t pass up the side of jelly either. It’s a trifecta of flavors that your tastebuds will love. The savoriness of the biscuits paired with the sweetness of the honey butter and jelly hits all of the right notes. Are you hungry yet?
One of my favorite meals at this restaurant is the Signature Baked French Toast. It’s every excuse you need to basically have dessert for breakfast. The french toast is thick and luscious topped with toasted pecans and whipped cream. The consistency is super similar to that of bread pudding. Wildflower gives you their brown sugar syrup to pour over top of the french toast, but chances are you won’t need a lot of it because all of the sweetness you need is already right there on the plate.
The Belgian Style Malted Waffles are another surefire win for brunch. I recently tried these (an effort to switch it up from the french toast) and loved them. They’re topped with powdered sugar and served with whipped cream on the side that you can top your waffles with as you wish. I loved the perfect pillowy texture Wildflower’s waffles have. Definitely another dessert-esque dish that your sweet tooth will adore.
If you’re looking for a new brunch spot to visit this weekend, make it Wildflower Café! Fresh coffee, great food choices, and tasty biscuits – what more could you want?
